　　TheFlagoftheWorldHealthOrganizationTheWorldHealthOrganization(WHO)isaspecialisedUnitedNationsagencywhichactsasacoordinatorandresearcherforpublichealtharoundtheworld.Establishedon7April1948，andheadquarteredinGeneva，Switzerland，theagencyinheritedthendateandresourcesofitspredecessor，theHealthOrganization，whichhadbeenanagencyoftheLeagueofNations.TheWHOsconstitutionstatesthatitissionistheattainmentbyallpeoplesofthehighestpossiblelevelofhealth.Itsjortaskistocombatdisease，especiallykeyinfectiousdiseases，1979theWHOdeclaredthatthediseasehadbeeneradicated-thefirstdiseaseinhistorytobecompletelyeliminatedbydeliberatehundesign.TheWHOisnearingsuccessindevelopingvaccinesagainstlariaandschistosomiasisandaimstoeradicatepoliowithinthenextfewyears.TheorganizationhasalreadyendorsedtheworldsfirstofficialHIV/AIDSToolkitforZimbabwefromOctober3，2006，itaninternationalstandard.

　　TheWHOisfinancedbycontributionsfrommemberstatesandfromdonors.InrecentyearstheWHOsworkhasinvolvedmorecollaboration，currentlyaround80suchpartnerships，withNGOsandthepharceuticalindustry，aswellaswithfoundationssuchastheBillandMelindaGatesFoundationandtheRockefellerFoundation.VoluntarycontributionstotheWHOfromnationalandlocalgovernments，foundationsandNGOs，otherUNorganizations，andtheprivatesector(includingpharceuticalcompanies)，nowexceedthatossessedcontributions(dues)fromits193membernations.
